Harris, J., & Eleser, C. (1997).  Developmental critical thinking:  Melding two imperatives.  Journal of Developmental Education, 21(1), 12-19.

Reviews the genesis, present form, and evaluation of a course designed to provide a comprehensive developmental education program for an open-admissions university and to satisfy the critical thinking requirements of the job market and the university. Teaches both the skills and the creativity dimensions of critical thinking, including course activities that are cross curricular, with innovative uses of technology and writing assignments.  Includes tables of the elements and standards of critical thinking and examples of critical thinking activities.  Evaluation includes faculty and student opinions of the course.
